Whatnot’s commission drops as your sales grow. Your total sales across all categories in one four-week (28-day) period set the tier you unlock, and that tier’s rate applies for the whole next period, by the category of each sale. Payment processing (2.9% + $0.30 on everything the buyer pays) doesn’t change with your tier (Whatnot Help: Whatnot seller fees).

Every US tier and rate

Whatnot US commission by category and tier (effective Sep 21, 2026). The tier comes from your total sales, all categories combined, in one four-week period.

Copied from the United States rate card on Whatnot’s seller fees help page, read in full on Oct 31, 2026. Live-show sales use the show’s category; marketplace and Shop sales use the product’s category. Rates as low as 3% are custom rates Whatnot offers its highest-volume sellers directly; they aren’t on the public card.

How the tier math works

  • Whatnot’s pace projection: sales so far, divided by the days passed, times 28. Whatnot’s own example: $10,000 on day 14 projects to $20,000 (Whatnot Help: Whatnot seller fees). Here that puts a Fashion seller on pace for Tier 1 at 7%, $25,000.00 short of Tier 2 (6.5%).
  • Your rate is locked for the period. Crossing a threshold mid-period lowers the rate for the next period, not right away.
  • Every period starts from zero. Sales don’t carry over between periods. Cancelled orders, private shows and local pickup orders are subtracted; sales at a promotional rate still count.
  • What the next tier is worth: a Fashion seller who finishes a period at $12,000 stays at Standard (8%). Reaching $15,000 would unlock Tier 1 at 7%, which saves $1.00 per $100 of Fashion sales, or $150.00 on $15,000 of sales the next period.
  • Some categories flatten out. Other Collectibles stops at 5% from Tier 4, Other at 4% from Tier 4, and Fashion at 4.5% from Tier 5. Sports and TCG keep dropping to 6.5%; Coins run from 4% to 3.5%.

Premier Shop

Whatnot says that as of November 1, 2026, Premier Shop no longer includes a 10% commission discount in markets with tiered rates, including the US; the lower rates now come from the tiers (Whatnot Help: Whatnot seller fees; Whatnot Help: Premier Shop Program). This calculator never includes a Premier Shop discount.

Not included

Promotional rates (such as new-seller 0% or limited-time category promos), custom rates, the high-value order promotion, and non-US rate cards. Your exact rate on each order is in Seller Hub, which is the final word.

Want the full take-home on a sale? Use the Whatnot fee calculator (pick your tier under Advanced), or compare cards in Whatnot vs eBay for trading cards.

Whatnot’s seller fees and Premier Shop Program help pages were re-read on Oct 31, 2026; the US rate card is unchanged.

How the calculator works, what we assume, and where every rate comes from.

How we calculate

Projected sales = sales so far ÷ days passed × 28 (at day 28 we use your sales as entered). The tier is the highest one whose lower bound the projection reaches. Your commission rate is that tier’s rate for the category you pick. “What the next tier would save” uses the next tier with a lower rate in your category: sales still needed = its threshold minus your sales so far; the saving is the rate difference on your projected sales (or the threshold, if higher) for one period, rounded to the cent.

What we assume
  • A US seller on Whatnot’s public tiered rate card.
  • All your sales in the period are in the category you pick (Whatnot charges each sale by its own category).
  • You keep the same pace for the rest of the period.
  • No promotional, custom or Premier Shop rates.
