Depop charges US sellers no selling fee, just payment processing of 3.3% + $0.45 on the item price plus shipping and any taxes, and 12% more if the sale came from a Boosted listing (Depop Help Centre: Seller fees and charges). Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% of the sale price from $15 up, and the buyer pays for the shipping label (Poshmark: Guide to Poshmark (fees)).

The short answer

  • Buyer pays shipping on both: Depop leaves you more at every price. On a $40 sale with $8 buyer shipping, fees are $2.15 on Depop and $8.00 on Poshmark, so you keep $27.85 vs $22.00.
  • You offer free shipping on Depop ($8 label): the label comes out of your payout on Depop, while Poshmark’s buyer still pays for theirs. Then Poshmark leaves you more up to $51.32, and Depop wins from $51.33 up. At $40 that’s $22.00 on Poshmark vs $20.13 on Depop.
  • Boosted on Depop: the 12% boosting fee narrows the gap but rarely closes it. With buyer-paid shipping, Depop still leaves more at most prices (at $40 you keep $23.05 vs $22.00); only from $14.21 to $16.72 can Poshmark come out level or a few cents ahead. Boosted with free shipping, Poshmark leaves more until $189.53.
  • Every figure assumes $8 shipping, 7.5% sales tax, a $10 item cost and a Depop shipping label. Change any number in the calculator above to see your own result.

Why Depop usually wins on fees

For US sellers, Depop’s only standard charge is payment processing, about 3.3% of what the buyer pays plus $0.45. Poshmark’s 20% from $15 up covers its processing and the prepaid label, but it is still several times bigger. Under $15, Poshmark’s flat $2.95 is also more than Depop’s processing on a small order. Shipping is the swing factor: if you pay for the label on Depop, Poshmark comes out ahead on lower-priced items.

Other rules to know

  • Depop Boosted listings: the 12% boosting fee (US, new listings from March 23, 2026) is charged on the item price, plus the shipping cost if you didn’t use a Depop shipping label (Depop Help Centre: Seller fees and charges). Tick “Boosted” under Advanced in the calculator to include it.
  • Depop refunds: if a sale is refunded, the processing and boosting fees are reversed too (Depop Help Centre: Seller fees and charges).
  • Poshmark’s $15 line: accepting an offer that drops a sale below $15 switches the fee from 20% to a flat $2.95. The offer & bundle calculator shows what you keep on any offer.
  • Heavy Poshmark packages: from October 26, 2026, shipping a package over 5 lb without upgrading the label means the upgrade cost ($5 for 5.01-10 lb, $10 for 10.01-15 lb) comes out of your earnings (Poshmark Blog: Shipping heavier items, how label upgrades work (Oct 8, 2026)). Set the package weight under Advanced to include it.

Fees are only half the story: list where buyers shop for your item. If you’re unsure, the where to sell helper ranks all six marketplaces by money and fit. How the math works, what we assume, and where both fee rules come from.

How we calculate

We take your sale price, the shipping you charge and the buyer's sales tax, apply Depop's and Poshmark's published US fee rules (linked under Sources), then subtract your shipping label and what you paid for the item. Each fee is rounded to the cent. It is an estimate: your platform statement is the final word.

Sell the same kind of item often? Set Items sold per month under More options to see monthly and yearly totals. We work out one sale to the cent and multiply it, so the totals assume every sale pays the same fees (plus eBay's insertion fee past 250 free listings a month).

The break-even prices on this page come from running the same calculator at every price, one cent at a time, and finding where the result flips.

What we assume

US seller, US buyer, US dollars, one item per order, standard account in good standing, no promotions, ads, refunds, currency conversion or instant-payout fees. Sales tax is collected and remitted by the marketplace, so it is never part of your payout, but eBay, Whatnot (processing), Depop and Etsy (processing) still charge a percentage on it. "Payout" is what the platform sends you; "profit" also subtracts your label and item cost. Each fee line is rounded to the cent.
